The website we've been working on all semester is due Monday at noon. I think it looks great. It will still need some work before we put it online but that is why I'm glad I will have some free time over the winter break. I feel like Chris and I have put a lot of effort into the site and I can't wait to have it available for everyone to use.
The only thing that worries me is that some sections won't be complete by Monday. Because this is my first time creating a website, some pages, like the forum and live chat, are impossible for me to complete without the help of a real web designer.
I hope everyone else is feeling good about their websites. I'm sure they'll look great!

Catching up
We are starting to get into more complex coding for our websites. It's daunting at first but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. It just takes a lot of patience but I feel like it will come together quite nicely. Chris has been a great asset to the whole project and his show schedule is looking very good.
I'm starting to realize that this will be due sooner than I think so I should probably get my butt into gear.

Ch-ch-changes
WSHC will be making history tomorrow. Todd, the Chief Operating Officer, invited the Tall Tall Trees from New York to record live in the station. Todd and the rest of the staff have been working very hard to make the main room in the station more accessible to bands and other acoustic acts. A lot of the budget has been allocated to new sound equipment to allow unknown bands the opportunity to play live on air and to record a demo for future use. WSHC is under construction, basically, and I am excited for the next couple of months.

Website progress
Working on the webmap with OmniGraffle really helped put things in perspective. It shows the tentative layout for the site and how to group all the information coherently. Chris, my website partner, had to find out the hard way that I'm a little OCD when it comes to things like this.
Our next assignment is a hard copy of our resumes. I'm glad that I get to work on mine because it definitely needs a little lovin'.

Working hard? Or hardly working?
It's a Saturday and all I can think about is finishing my presentation. I woke up this morning and went straight to the lab for three hours and then to the library for two more. Some of my research for the project had me going through Shepherd's yearbook archive. I started with 1951, where the first recognition of the radio station appeared. After that, it varied by year but I enjoyed looking through the pictures and discovered a lot about Shepherd. For instance, did you know that we used to have an aviation club back in the day? And that The Picket is one of the oldest organizations, which began in 1912?
I've decided that I would like to dedicate a couple of pages of the website to the history of the station...the full history, if I can get it.

Love What's New
This semester has already provided many new and exciting things for me. I have a new job, new classes, new friends, and now, a new blog. I never thought I'd be the blogging type but here I am, typing about nothing and everything.
In my Computer Mediated class, we will be spending most of our time designing a website. I was tossing around some ideas for my subject, like my mom's jewelry business or a blues band, but none of these really excited me. Then at the radio station's staff meeting, I asked about their website and if I could work on making a new, updated one, which would kill two birds with one stone. Added bonus: I will be designing the site with another classmate, Chris Jones, because both he and I work for the station and loved the idea of creating a site that might actually be useful. We, of course, will have to add more pages to the project but it will be nice to work with somebody else.
Giving credit where credit is due.
